LA NINA BY MARÍA VALL

Mi mundo siempre ha sido un mundo de mujeres. He crecido rodeada de primas,  tías,  abuelas, amigas de mi hermana mayor. En definitiva, un montón de mujeres. Y ahora con la perspectiva del tiempo me doy cuenta de lo maravilloso que ha sido y de la riqueza inmensa del mundo que envuelve a las mujeres que son madres y de los recursos inagotables que tienen.  Recuerdo el cariño y la dedicación de todas ellas para que en estas fechas salga todo de forma casi mágica.

My world has always been a world of women. I grew up with girl cousins, grandmothers, and my older sister’s friends. In short, surrounded by women. And now, with the perspective of time, I realise how wonderful this was and I see the immense richness of the world of women who are mothers, what inexhaustible resources they have.  I remember their affection and dedication, making everything happen almost magically at this time of year.

Cuando veo la portada del catalogo de LA NINA,  recuerdo  las tarde de domingo jugando en casa de mis primas, los viernes  de merienda especial en  la cocina de casa de la abuela, las fiestas de cumpleaños caseras y donde la máxima emoción era jugar con las muñecas de mi “amiga del alma”.  En esos momentos  nuestra única preocupación era jugar, jugar y jugar. Y es que el mundo de las niñas tiene esa magia y esa riqueza que después nos acompañará para siempre.  Por eso, y como madres, no debemos dejar pasar el momento de crear el espacio más cálido y acogedor para que nuestras hijas jueguen y disfruten de esos momentos tan  bonitos.

When I see the cover of the LA NINA catalogue, I remember Sunday afternoons playing at my cousins’ house, special Friday afternoon snacks in my grandmother’s kitchen, birthday parties at home where the most exciting thing in the world was playing with my best friend’s dolls.  In those days, the only thing we cared about was playing and playing. The thing is that the world of dolls has that magic and richness which later stay with us forever.  This is why, as mothers, we mustn’t miss this opportunity to create a warmer, more welcoming space for our daughters to play and enjoy these special moments.
